COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced today that it will join the Big Ten, Horizon League, Mid-American Conference and Summit League as the newest member of the men’s basketball College Officiating Consortium (COC-MBB2). Terry Wymer has served as the Executive Director of the COC-MBB2 since 2023 and will also be the Coordinator of Officials for the Mountain West.

“The Mountain West is the top western-based men’s basketball conference, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the COC-MBB2.,” said Wymer. “We have established an exceptional foundation for our men’s basketball consortium and believe that partnering with the Mountain West will help push us to new heights.”

Wymer manages the day-to-day operations of the COC-MBB2 and is responsible for recruiting, selecting, developing, evaluating and assigning officials for all men’s basketball games in the Big Ten and overseeing the assignments in the Mountain West. During his 35-year collegiate officiating career, Wymer officiated 21 straight NCAA men’s Division I tournaments, advancing to the NCAA regionals 11 times. Wymer has also officiated five Final Fours and the national championship game three times.

In addition to Wymer, the Mountain West has named Dave Smith as the Director of Mountain West Men’s Basketball Officials. Smith has over 20 years of assigning experience in the West and over 10 years of collegiate officiating experience. Smith will assist with the development, evaluation and assignments of Mountain West officials.
