Boise, Idaho – Dona Larsen Park
BOISE, Idaho – Pack come away with the must win victory against Colorado State Thursday morning setting up the rivalry matchup with No. 2 UNLV, taking that game 8-0 in five innings.
Game 1 (2-1, W)
The Pack and Rams were scoreless until the fourth inning when Maile Olsen delivered an RBI double scoring Aaliyah Jenkins. A. Jenkins reached on a walk after working the count full in her at-bat.
Bailie Clark came to the plate in the fifth dropping a ball just short of the right center wall. Clark’s speed brought her around all bases with an inside the park home run, extending the lead 2-0. Haley Painter reached on a base knock, but the Pack wasn’t able to capitalize.
Blake Craft got the start in the first game of the tournament. Craft had a dominant outing pitching six scoreless innings, striking out six, issuing no walks. Craft allowed just five hits. Tyra Clary came in to pitch the final inning of the game, her only earned run coming from a solo home run to cut the lead in half.
Pack survive the play-in elimination game, 2-1.
Game 2 (8-0, W)
In the first at-bat of the game, Bailie Clark launched her second home run of the day, this time the ball leaving the park over the center field wall.
Bailie Clark drew a leadoff walk in the top of the third bringing up Haley Painter who doubled down the right field line. Bridgette Gilliano came to the plate clearing the bases scoring Painter and B. Clark, extending the lead 3-0.
A three RBI fourth inning started with Hannah Di Genova coming in to pinch hit for Charli Hawkins, delivering a solo home run to left field. Taryn Jenkins singled through the right side scoring B. Clark and T. Maytorena.
The Pack added the final two runs of the game stamping the 8-0 run-rule victory with an RBI double from Olsen scoring A. Jenkins, Olsen’s second RBI double of the day. Hannah Di Genova capitalized on her pinch-hitting opportunity with an RBI single scoring Olsen.
Carley Brown got the start for the second game of the tournament. Brown pitched five shutout innings allowing just two hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
