COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State senior Ceonna Pipion has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while San José State junior Emilia Sjostrand was tabbed the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and Wyoming’s Salma Elbadra was selected as the MW Women’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week.

Colorado State sophomore Tyler Colwell has been named the MW Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Utah State sophomore Logan Hammer has been selected as the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Air Force’s James Warmbrod IV claimed MW Men’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week honors.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
CEONNA PIPION, FRESNO STATE
Senior, Folsom, California/Vista Del Lago HS

  • Won the 400-meter dash at the Fresno State Invitational with a program-record time of 52.79, surpassing the record that stood since 1994.
  • Placed second in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish in 23.48.
  • Ranks second in the Conference in both events.

 

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
EMILIA SJOSTRAND, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Junior, Stockholm, Sweden/Ostra Reals Gymnasium

  • Won the triple jump at the Fresno State Invitational with a mark of 13.43 meters, which ranks seventh in the nation.
  • Claimed gold in the long jump at the Fresno State Invitational with a jump of 6.32 meters.

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
SALMA ELBADRA, WYOMING
Inezgane, Morocco/Universal School

  • Won the 800-meter run at the Doug Max Invitational with a program-record time of 2:05.14.
  • Time is the best in the Mountain West this season.

 

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
TYLER COLWELL, COLORADO STATE
Sophomore, Channahon, Illinois/Minooka HS

  • Won the 100-meter dash at the Doug Max Invitational with a personal-best time of 10.25, which is also the top time in Colorado State history.
  • Won the 200-meter dash at the Doug Max Invitational with a time of 21.35.

 

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
LOGAN HAMMER, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Nampa, Idaho/Columbia HS

  • Won the pole vault at the Robison Invitational with a program-record clearance of 5.53 meters.
  • Clearance is the fourth-best mark in Mountain West history.
  • Ranks first in the MW and ninth in the nation this season.

 

MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
JAMES WARMBROD IV, AIR FORCE

Nashville, Tennessee/Nashville Christian HS

  • Placed fourth in the 400-meter dash at the Drake Relays with a career-best time of 47.38.
  • Ranks fifth in the MW and best time by a freshman in 2024.
  • Also helped the 4×400-meter relay to fourth-place finish, clocking a time of 3:08.87.
