COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced the 2024 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Team and annual accolades on Tuesday evening, as selected by the league’s seven head coaches.
For the second year in a row, New Mexico’s Arda Azkara has been selected as the MW Men’s Tennis Player of the Year. The 2022 Co-Freshman of the Year recorded a 19-3 singles overall record while competing at the top of the Lobo lineup. Azkara collected the MW Men’s Tennis Player of the Week nod four times during the 2024 season. This is the fifth time a Lobo has been selected as the MW Player of the Year and Azkara is the only one to secure the honor multiple times, let alone consecutively.
Utah State’s Mohammad Alkotop was tabbed the MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Year. Alkotop went 12-6 overall. The freshman is the second Aggie to earn the Freshman of the Year title. He earned the MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week honor once during the year.
