COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Arda Azkara has been tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. No selection was made for men’s freshman honors this week.

On the women’s side, Nevada’s Kennedy Robinson earned the MW Women’s Tennis Player and Freshman of the Week nods.

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ARDA AZKARA, NEW MEXICO

Junior, Ismet, Turkey/ NA

  • In the Lobos’ 4-3 loss to No. 54 Santa Clara over the weekend, the junior played a vital role in keeping the action going, as his singles win tied the team score at 3-3.
  • While in the No. 1 singles spot against the then-No. 53 singles player in the country, logged a 7-5, 6-4 victory for the Cherry and Silver.

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

KENNEDY ROBINSON, NEVADA

Henderson, Nevada/Liberty HS

  • Went 3-1 on the week with a pair of doubles wins and a singles victory.
  • Posted wins at the No. 3 doubles position against No. 34 Arizona’s Reece Carter and Lauren Friedman, 7-6 (3), and Western Michigan’s Polina Khotko and Ariane Souligny, 6-2.
  • Clinched the doubles point for the Wolf Pack against No. 34 Arizona, winning all three of her service games and service points in the tiebreaker.
  • In No. 6 singles versus Western Michigan’s Julia Frazier, she logged a 6-3, 6-2 win as the first singles court to finish play.
