COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State swept the Mountain West Players of the Week following a stellar opening weekend. Freshman outfielder Sophia Knight was tabbed the MW Player and Freshman of the Week, while senior Taylor Caudill earned MW Pitcher of the Week honors.

SOPHIA KNIGHT, BOISE STATE

OF, Huntington Beach, California/Huntington Beach HS

  • Led the Broncos to a 4-1 record on opening weekend with wins over then-No.20/24 Northwestern (4-3), St. Thomas (9-4), then-RV Arizona State (6-4) and Grand Canyon (3-1).
  • The leadoff hitter batted .632 on 19 at bats to open the season, recording 12 hits, four runs, one RBI in the process.
  • Tallied a team-best two doubles and the Broncos’ only triple.
  • Posted a .842 slugging percentage and a 1.474 on base percentage.
  • In the outfield, logged 14 putouts over the five games.

TAYLOR CAUDILL, BOISE STATE

Senior, Mission Viejo, California/JSerra Catholic HS

  • Credited with Boise State’s four wins to open the season.
  • The senior posted a .33 ERA over 21 innings pitched.
  • Gave up only seven hits and one earned run over her four games in the circle.
  • Notched 23 strikeouts for the Broncos.
