COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV senior Anton Ornberg was tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Air Force’s Alec Fritzinger was named the MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week.
On the women’s side, Boise State senior Pauline Ernstberger earned the MW Women’s Tennis Player of the Week nod.
MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANTON ORNBERG, UNLV
Senior, Stockholm, Sweden/Korrespondens Gimnasium
- The senior went 1-1 on the week.
- Posted the highest-ranked win of his UNLV career over No. 7 USC’s No. 39 Peter Makk, winning 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) at the top flight for the Rebels.
- In No. 1 doubles, fell to Peter Makk/Lodewijk Westrate, 6-3.
MEN’S TENNIS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ALEC FRITZINGER, AIR FORCE
Goldsboro, North Carolina/South Carolina Connections Academy
- Helped the Falcons to a 6-1 win over Weber State.
- Competed in the No. 6 singles flight, posting a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Matteo Savio.
WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PAULINE ERNSTBERGER, BOISE STATE
Bruchsal, Germany
- Posted a combined weekend record of 2-0 in singles and doubles against No. 21 Washington.
- In the No. 1 singles position, posted a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (6) win over Erika Matsuda.
- Competed at No. 2 doubles, logging a 6-1 win over Sarah-Maude Fortin and Erika Matsuda.
