COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State junior Malaya Jones has been tabbed the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. Utah State freshman Kambree Rodriguez has been named the MW Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week.

 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MALAYA JONES, COLORADO STATE

Junior, Opposite, Santa Ana, California / Santa Margarita HS

  • Led Colorado State to a 2-0 weekend with road wins over Air Force (3-2) and New Mexico (3-0).
  • The junior logged a total of 35 kills on the week, averaging 4.38 kills per set, a .301 hitting percentage and 5.0 points per set. Also tallied 12 digs, four blocks and three service aces across both contests.
  • In the five-set battle against the Falcons, posted 22 kills, a .308 hitting percentage and one service ace. Also contributed nine digs and two blocks.
  • Against the Lobos, registered 13 kills, a .290 hitting percentage, two service aces and one assist. Also contributed three digs and two blocks.

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER/ FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

KAMBREE RODRIGUEZ, UTAH STATE 

Freshman, Libero, Syracuse, Utah/ Syracuse HS

  • Led the Aggies to a pair of road wins against Boise State (3-1) and San José State (3-0).
  • In seven sets of play, averaged 4.14 digs per set with 29 total digs and a .942 reception percentage.
  • Against the Broncos, posted 19 digs, a perfect reception percentage on 45 attempts. Also contributed six assists in the four-set win.
  • In the sweep over the Spartans, logged 10 digs with a .833 reception percentage on 24 attempts. Additionally, contributing two assists and two service aces.
