COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State junior Malaya Jones has been named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. San José State’s Alessia Buffagni is tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week and teammate Nayeli Ti’a garners Freshman of the Week honors.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MALAYA JONES, COLORADO STATE
Junior, Outside / Opposite, Santa Ana, California / Santa Margarita HS
- Led the Rams to a 2-0 week with a 3-1 win over SDSU and a 3-0 sweep over UNLV.
- Tallied 25 kills over the weekend with 3.57 kills per set and a .321 hitting percentage; averaged 4.07 points per set, as well as a total of 14 digs, 2.00 per set.
- Against the Aztecs, posted a .278 hitting percentage on 16 kills as well as recording her first career double-double with 10 digs.
- In the sweep over the Rebels, posted nine kills, turning in a .412 hitting percentage.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ALESSIA BUFFAGNI, SAN JOSÉ STATE

- Helped the Spartans to a 2-0 week with four-set wins over Nevada and Fresno State.
- Averaged 4.25 digs per set and 1.63 assists per set; posted a .882 reception percentage with only four errors.
- Led the Spartans in the 3-1 win over the Wolf Pack with 18 digs and three assists.
- Against the Bulldogs, recorded her first collegiate double-double in the 3-1 win with a career-best 10 assists and a team-high 16 digs.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
NAYELI TI’A, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Redshirt Freshman, Outside, Livermore, California / Granada HS
- Helped San José State to a 2-0 week at home with a pair of four-set wins against Nevada and Fresno State.
- Averaged 2.88 kills per set on 23 kills, 1.25 digs per set on 10 digs, 3.38 points per set on 27 total points, 0.38 aces per set on three aces and 0.25 blocks per set with two total.
- In the 3-1 win over the Wolf Pack, posted nine kills, eight digs, three service aces and one block.
- In the 3-1 win over the Bulldogs, shared team-high honors with 14 kills, adding two digs and one block.
