COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico senior Uxue Guereca has been tabbed the Mountain West Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Air Force’s Jordan Suan collected Defensive Player of the Week honors, while San José State’s Nayeli Ti’a is named the Freshman of the week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

UXUE GUERECA, NEW MEXICO

Senior, Outside Hitter, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico / Cervantes Loma Bonita

  • Led the Lobos to a 2-1 week at the UND Classic with 48 kills (4.36/set).
  • Tallied 55 points (5.0/set), also leading the Conference.
  • Logged a double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs, as well as six blocks, supplying all but one kill in the pivotal third set to turn the tide in the Lobos’ favor in the four-set victory over tournament host, North Dakota (3-1).
  • Registered three aces on the weekend, including two in New Mexico’s win over Green Bay (3-0).
  • Hit for a team-best .248 percentage on the weekend in North Dakota.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

JORDAN SUAN, AIR FORCE

Sophomore, Libero, Gilbert, Arizona / Perry HS

  • Helped the Falcons win the Santa Clara Mission Classic with victories over CSU Bakersfield (3-2), Santa Clara (3-1), and Saint Mary’s (3-1) while averaging 4.54 digs per set.
  • Posted a career-best 22 digs in the Falcon win over CSU Bakersfield.
  • Recorded a new career-best 25 digs in Air Force’s victory over Santa Clara, who had previously only lost one match.
  • Contributed to the Falcons hitting .243 on the weekend with strong passing and helped hold their opponents to a .128 hitting percentage.
  • Logged a .924 reception percentage, committing only five errors on 66 attempts.

FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NAYELI TI’A, SAN JOSÉ STATE

R-Freshman, Outside Hitter, Livermore, California / Granada HS

  • Averaged 3.55 kills, 3.45 digs, 0.55 aces, 0.45 assists and 4.18 points per set while contributing to the Spartans’ 2-1 record at the Campbell Invitational.
  • Recorded a double-double for a second time this season in the 3-1 win over Campbell with 16 kills and a season-best 18 digs, while hitting .371 in the match on 35 attempts and only three errors, logging three aces, three assists and a block.
  • In the 3-0 loss to Georgia Southern, posted 14 kills and hit a season-best .385 on 26 attempts and four errors, contributing nine digs and two assists.
  • In the Spartans’ 3-1 win over UTSA, supplied nine kills, three aces, and 11 digs.
  • Was one of two Spartans to be named to the Campbell Invitational All-Tournament Team.
