COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Defending Co-Mountain West Champion Wyoming has been selected as the preseason favorite to capture the 2023 MW Women’s Soccer regular-season title as voted on by the league’s 12 head coaches.
The Cowgirls garnered 100 points and four first-place votes, earning the top spot in the preseason coaches poll. Last season, Wyoming earned a share of the Mountain West regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the MW tournament for the first time in program history.
San Diego State was selected to finish the upcoming season in second place with 98 points and four first-place votes, while New Mexico was picked third with 97 points and a first-place vote. San José State was selected to finish in fourth place with 92 points and the final three first-place votes. Rounding out the top half of the predicted order of finish is Utah State in fifth with 91 points and Boise State in sixth with 86 points.
Colorado State is next in seventh with 53 points, Colorado College in eighth with 50 points, UNLV in ninth with 35 points, Air Force in 10th with 33 points, Fresno State in 11th with 31 points, and Nevada in 12th with 26 points.
The 2023 season kicks off on Thursday, August 17.
