COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Boise State’s Luke Shields has been named the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year as voted on by the league’s seven coaches.
In his first year as head coach at Boise State, Shields led the Broncos to a 21-8 overall record, including a 3-3 mark in Conference play, and an ITA rank of 63.
With the former Bronco and men’s tennis All-American at the helm, Boise State won the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Championship with a 4-2 win over Utah State, earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA championship.
Shields, who is the first Bronco to earn the honor since Greg Patton in 2012, has been named MW Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year for the third time in his career, winning it in 2017 and ’19 as the Fresno State head coach.
