MESA, Ariz. — No. 2 Washington State (28-25, 15-9 MW) defeated No. 3 Air Force (26-27, 15-9 MW) by a final score of 5–1 in the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Baseball Championship at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona.

The Cougars took an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second, marking a strong start with five runs in the first two innings.

WSU’s Nick Lewis, the MW Pitcher of the Year, was dominant on the mound, going 8.2 innings and striking out 11 batters on his way to earning his ninth win of the year. He was one-out away from the first MW tournament complete game since 2017.

Cougars second baseman Gavin Roy led the Cougars with two hits, knocking home two RBIs, and scoring two runs. Ryan Skjonsby contributed with a two-run triple in the first inning.

Air Force has a quick turnaround, facing No. 5 New Mexico in a win-or-go-home game at 9:05 a.m. MST, while Washington State will face top-seeded San Diego State at 1:05 p.m. MST.
