MESA, Arizona — Top-seeded San Diego State (34-22, 16-8 MW) defeated No. 5 seed New Mexico (29-23-1, 12-11-1 MW) 11-6 in the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Baseball Championship at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona.

The Aztecs rallied with a powerful offensive display, overcoming an initial 5-0 deficit to score 10 runs between the fourth and sixth innings, highlighted by two home runs and a triple. The team collected 15 hits overall and held the Lobos to six runs on 10 hits.

Earning the win for SDSU was Issac Araiza, who pitched 1.0 inning and striking out two Lobos, before Aidan Russell came in to get the save, pitching 4.0 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four.

At the plate, the Aztecs had four players with multiple RBIs, including Max Farrell and Adam Magpoc, who both went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. The 2026 Mountain West Tony Gwynn Player of the Year, Jake Jackson, also logged three hits, including a double, and one stolen base.

The Lobos were led at the dish by Luke Mansy, who registered three hits on four at bats, scoring two runs and knocking home one RBI.

New Mexico will take on the loser of No. 2 Washington State and No. 3 Air Force, with first pitch scheduled for 9:05 a.m. MST on Saturday, May 23. San Diego State will face the winner of the WSU-AF contest at 1:05 p.m. MST.
