RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — The Colorado State and San José State women’s golf teams sat atop the standings, each with a score of 291 (+3) after the first round of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women’s Golf Championship at Mission Hills Country Club.

Kara Kaneshiro of Colorado State and Alexis Vakasiuola of Grand Canyon shared the individual lead after the first round, each posting a 4-under 68. Leia Chung of Boise State was close behind, carding a 3-under 69 to sit third. The Spartans’ Lotte Schuhr and Tessa Kremser both recorded 71s to tie for fourth, contributing to a tight leaderboard after the initial 18 holes.

In the team standings, the Rams and the Spartans both ended the first round tied at the top with scores of 291 (+3). UNLV and Grand Canyon followed closely in third place, each with a score of 292 (+4), making the team competition highly competitive. Nevada rounded out the top five with a 294 (+6), indicating a closely contested battle for positioning moving into the next round.
