COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nevada’s Annalies Kalma has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this year and first time during the outdoor campaign, while teammate Lilly Urban was named the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. New Mexico’s Eva Ngom was selected as the MW Women’s Freshman of the Week, her second freshman nod of the 2025-26 academic year and first during the outdoor season.

On the men’s side, New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel earned MW Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in the last three weeks and fourth time across indoor and outdoor. Air Force’s Texas Tanner was named the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for a second time during outdoor and a fourth time during his senior season, while fellow Falcon Zachary DeWalt picked up his third MW Men’s Freshman of the Week honors of the year and second during outdoor.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ANNALIES KALMA, NEVADA
Senior, Hamilton, New Zealand/St. Peters School Cambridge

  • Place sixth in the Elite Invitational section of the 400-meter at the Mt. SAC Relays (Walnut, California)
  • Set a Nevada program record in the 400-meter with a time of 51.90.
  • Her time currently leads the Mountain West and ranks 27th in the NCAA this season.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LILLY URBAN, NEVADA
Junior, Frankfurt, Germany/Limesschule Idstein

  • Won the javelin competition at the Mt. SAC Relays with a throw of 56.60 meters (185-8.0), winning the event by over two meters.
  • The mark currently ranks No. 1 in the Mountain West and No. 5 in the nation.
  • The 56.60 meters is also the third-best mark in the Mountain West all-time with Urban’s career-best mark of 56.89 meters ranking second in Conference history.

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
EVA NGOM, NEW MEXICO
RS Freshman, Katy, Texas/Taylor HS

  • Set personal-best times in all three of her individual races over the weekend in California.
  • Won the 400-meter at the Beach Invitational (Long Beach, California) with a time of 52.08, setting a New Mexico program record and clocking the second-fastest time in the MW this season.
  • Finished second in the 200-meter (23.63)) and fourth in the 400-meter (53.05) at the Pacific Coast Invitational (Long Beach, California).
  • Also competed on the Lobo 4×400-meter relay team that finished sixth at the Mt. SAC Relays with a time of 3:33.91.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
HABTOM SAMUEL, NEW MEXICO
Junior, Keren, Eritrea/Al Selef Al Salih

  • Broke his own NCAA outdoor 5,000-meter record at the Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa, California), winning the event with a time of 13:03.47.
  • Won the race by nearly 10 seconds, closing with a 1:58 clocking over the final 800 meters.
  • Named USTFCCCA Co-National Athlete of the Week, his fifth national weekly honor of his career and second during the 2026 outdoor season.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
TEXAS TANNER, AIR FORCE
Senior, Sheridan, Wyoming/Sheridan HS

  • Set an American Collegiate Record in the hammer throw at the Beach Invitational with a mark of 78.87 meters (258-9.0).
  • The mark is the No. 2 throw in NCAA history, broke his previous Mountain West record in the event by over three meters and currently leads the nation.
  • Broke the Mountain West record in the discus at the Pacific Coast Invitational with a throw of 66.30 meters (217-6.0), ranking first in the NCAA.
  • Broke the Air Force school record and All-Service Academy record in the shot put with a winning throw of 19.35 meters (63-1.50).

MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ZACHARY DEWALT, AIR FORCE
Freshman, Corpus Christi, Texas/Flour Bluff HS/USAFA Prep School

  • Set an Air Force freshman class record in the 200-meter dash at the Pacific Coast Invitational with a time of 20.85.
  • The time ranks fifth-fastest in program history and earned him a third-place finish out of 63 runners.
  • Finished ninth in the 400-meter at the Beach Invitational with the 20th-fastest time in school history (47.46).
  • Ran a leg on the 4×100-meter relay team that finished second at the Beach Invitational (40.32).
