LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men’s tennis clinched at least a share of the Mountain West regular season title, remaining a perfect 6-0 in conference play with a 4-1 win over No. 65 Grand Canyon on Saturday at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
This is USU’s fifth regular season conference in program history, all of which have come in the Mountain West. The Aggies also took home regular season crowns in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2024, in addition to winning the MW Tournament in 2017 and 2018.
Doubles
For the 12th-straight match, the Aggies won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. At the third position, sophomores Eliot Nobel and Roman Venger held control throughout on the way to a 6-4 win. At No.2 doubles, senior Jean-Baptiste Badon and sophomore Dmitri Goubin bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to take the match, 6-4, and give USU the early advantage. At the top spot, sophomore Xavier Calvelo and freshman Jakub Medved came back from 4-1 down to take the lead and were battling late in the set when the point was clinched.
