COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Boise State junior forward Drew Fielder has been named the Old Trapper Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while UNLV forward Tyrin Jones was tabbed the Old Trapper MW Freshman of the Week.

MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DREW FIELDER, BOISE STATE

Junior, Forward, Boise, Idaho/Georgetown

  • Led Boise State to a 2-0 record to conclude the regular season with wins over San Diego State (86-77) and Colorado State (78-67).
  • Averaged 23 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while connecting on 68 percent (17-of-25) of shots from the field and 44.4 percent (14-for-9) from long range.
  • Against SDSU, recorded a career-high 33 points and pulled down nine boards. Made 7-of-10 attempts from the floor.
  • Tallied 23 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal against CSU.

MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

TYRIN JONES, UNLV

Forward, Las Vegas, Nevada/Layton Christian School

  • Helped UNLV to 1-1 record to close out the regular season with a victory over Utah State (92-65) and a loss to San Diego State (89-86).
  • Averaged 19.5 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks per game, while shooting 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from the floor.
  • Posted 17 points, four boards and three assists against the Aggies.
  • Registered 22 points and pulled down six rebounds against the Aztecs. Also tallied three blocks.
