COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Grand Canyon sophomore Tristan Berard has been selected as the first Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the 2026 season.

On the women’s side, Wyoming’s Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia earned the MW Women’s Tennis Player of the Week nod, while first-year Cowgirl Silver Bijlsma was tabbed the MW Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week.

There was no selection for Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week.

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TRISTAN BERARD, GRAND CANYON
Sophomore, Noisy-Le-Roi, France

  • Went 4-0 in singles and 3-1 in doubles in four Grand Canyon wins, all in the No. 2 flight.
  • Registered just one set loss across his four singles matches with three straight-set wins.
  • Helped the Lopes to their best start in program history with a pair of wins over Idaho, a win over New Mexico State and a win over Wichita State.

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANASTASIIA KOCHELAEVSKAIA, WYOMING
Sophomore, CLS Russia

  • Went 4-1 in singles play on the opening week with three of the wins coming in the No. 1 spot.
  • Two of the four wins came in straight sets.
  • Went 2-2 as the No. 3 doubles, logging a 7-5 win and 6-3 win.

WOMEN’S TENNIS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
SILVER BIJLSMA, WYOMING
The Hague, Netherlands

  • Recorded an 8-2 combined record on the week with four singles wins and four doubles wins.
  • Two of the four singles wins came in straight-sets with one win coming in the No. 2 spot.
  • Playing exclusively at No. 1 doubles, beat the top doubles teams from Tulsa, SEMO, LA Tech and Tarleton State with the only loss coming against Oklahoma.
