WEEK 14 ACTION
All 12 Mountain West teams are in action in Week 14, with five of the six games appearing on national television. Air Force and Colorado State get the action started at 1 p.m. MT Friday when they square off on FS1. San Diego State visits New Mexico at 1:30 p.m. MT Friday in a battle between first and second in the MW standings that will have a huge impact on who qualifies for the MW Football Championship. Utah State hosts Boise State on CBS at 2 p.m. MT to cap Friday’s action. On Saturday, UNLV and Nevada square off at 6 p.m. PT on CBSSN, followed by Fresno State at San José State at 7:30 p.m. PT on FS1. The regular season comes to a close when Wyoming visits Hawai‘i on the MW App (mobile only) and Spectrum at 6 p.m. HT on Saturday.

MW CHAMPIONSHIP RACE
With just one week left in the regular season, seven MW teams are still alive for a spot in the MW Football Championship Game and the host is still to be determined. … San Diego State controls its own destiny, as the 6-1 Aztecs would clinch not just a berth but also the right to host with a win over New Mexico. Boise State would clinch a spot with a win and an SDSU win, while New Mexico would claim hosting duties with a win an a BSU loss. UNLV would clinch a spot with a win, an SDSU win and a BSU loss. Fresno State, Hawai‘i and Utah State are all still alive for spots in the game, but must win their games and come out on top in tiebreakers to qualify.

LEAGUE STRENGTH
The Mountain West has seen six of its 12 teams reach at least seven wins (50.0%). That is tied for the third-highest share among all FBS conferences (Big Ten) behind the SEC (62.5%) and Big 12 (56.3%).

BOWL ELIGIBILITY
More than half of the Mountain West (Boise State, Fresno State, Hawai‘i, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV and Utah State) is bowl eligible. With 58.4 percent of its teams bowl eligible, the MW trails only the ACC (64.7 percent), SEC (62.5) and Big Ten (61.1) in terms of percentage of its teams having reached bowl eligibility. … Utah State earned its fourth bowl bid in the last five seasons. … Boise State is bowl eligible for the 28th consecutive season, the second-longest active streak in the FBS. … Fresno State is bowl eligible for the fifth straight season. … Hawai‘i is bowl eligible for the first time since 2019. … New Mexico is bowl eligible for the first time since 2016. … San Diego State is bowl eligible for the 14th time in 16 seasons. … UNLV is bowl eligible for the third straight season.

FBS LEADERS
Air Force leads the nation with 17.61 passing yards per completion. … Hawai‘i’s Kansei Matsuzawa is among three qualified kickers still perfect on field goals this season and leads the FBS with 23 field goals made. … Fresno State’s Jahzon Jacks leads the FBS with four fumbles recovered. … San José State’s Danny Scudero leads with 112.2 receiving yards per game and 1,155 total receiving yards. … Colorado State’s Owen Long leads in total tackles (131) and tackles per game (11.9).

AZTECS’ STIFLING DEFENSE
San Diego State is second in the FBS in scoring defense at 11.6 points allowed per game and is sixth nationally in total defense with 262.9 yards allowed per game. … The Aztecs are the only FBS squad with a trio of shutouts this season. This marks the first time in SDSU’s Division I history (since 1969) with three shutouts in a single season. … San Diego State has held seven different opponents to seven or fewer points this season, most in the FBS (no one else even at six such games). The other four teams to do this in the CFP Era (since 2014) all made an appearance in the College Football Playoff the same year: Michigan (2023), Georgia (2021), Clemson (2018), and Alabama (2016). … San Diego State is allowing just 6.8 points per game at home this season, putting it on pace to set a MW record, besting TCU’s home slate in 2008 (8.7).

UNLV’S MAGIC NUMBER
UNLV has scored at least 20 points in each of its last 33 regular-season games (excluding MW championship games), marking the second-longest active such streak in the FBS, behind only Memphis (46 straight). The Rebels are 27-6 over that stretch.

STACKING BIG WINS
Boise State is one of two FBS teams to have at least five 20-point wins in each of the last four seasons (Ohio State). That is tied for the longest streak in MW history (TCU – 2008-11).

DUAL-THREAT REBEL
UNLV’s Anthony Colandrea has a passing touchdown and at least 15 rushing yards in all 11 games this season, most in the FBS. That is tied for the most such games by any MW player in a single campaign, along with Wyoming’s Brett Smith (2011).

CENTURY-MARK RUSHING STREAK
The longest active streak for games with at least 100 rushing yards by an FBS team belongs to Air Force, which has done so in 96 consecutive games. … The Falcons are fifth in the FBS in rushing with 265.5 yards per game.

EXCITEMENT IN THE DUKE CITY
Under first-year head coach Jason Eck, New Mexico is having a resurgent season. At 8-3, the Lobos have their most wins since 2016’s 9-4 campaign and are in the hunt for a spot in the MW Championship game. And the fans in Albuquerque have noticed – New Mexico’s attendance is up 51 percent over last season, including the Lobos’ first sellout since 2007.

THE TOKYO TOE
A finalist for the Lou Groza Place-Kicker of the Year award, Hawai‘i’s Kansei Matsuzawa is currently 23-for-23 on field-goal attempts this year, setting program and MW records for consecutive made field goals to start a season and setting Hawai‘i’s single-season record for made field goals. He has hit 24 in a row dating back to last season, a program record for consecutive makes and the second-longest streak in MW history. He currently has the longest active streak in the FBS and is just two shy of the FBS record for consecutive makes in a single season (25).

JOHNNY ON THE SPOT
With an FBS-best four fumble recoveries this season, Fresno State’s Jahzon Jacks is just one back of matching the MW’s single-season record, set in 2000 and last achieved in 2021. … Colorado State’s Andrew Laurich had three recoveries against New Mexico in Week 12, making him the first Ram with three fumble recoveries in a game since at least 1995.

TOP-TIER COACHES
San Diego State’s Sean Lewis is among 20 semifinalists for the George Munger Coach of the Year Award, while Hawai‘i’s Timmy Chang is the AFCA Region 5 Coach of the Year

MIDSEASON ALL-AMERICANS
Five MW players earned spots on The Associated Press Midseason All-America football teams, including a pair of first-team selections. Hawai‘i senior kicker Kansei Matsuzawa and San Diego State senior defensive back Chris Johnson earned first-team nods. San José State sophomore wide receiver Danny Scudero, Colorado State sophomore linebacker Owen Long and UNLV senior defensive back Aamaris Brown were named to the second team. The MW’s two first-team selections are as many as the other non-autonomous conferences combined, while the Conference’s five total selections surpassed the combined total of its peer leagues.

MW AGAINST THE A4 AT HOME
MW teams went 3-1 against A4 opponents at home this season. Hawai‘i earned the MW’s first A4 win of the 2025 season with its 23-20 win over Stanford in Week 0. UNLV made it 2-0 with a 30-23 win over UCLA in Week 2. San Diego State picked up a third MW home win over an A4 when it throttled California 34-0 in Week 4.

MW AGAINST THE A4, PART II
New Mexico outscored UCLA 21-0 in the fourth quarter of its 35-10 win in Week 3. The 21 points were the most scored by a MW team in the fourth quarter of a win against an ACC/Big Ten/Big 12/SEC opponent since BYU scored 21 at Virginia in a 38-35 overtime win on Sept. 2, 2000. … San Diego State’s 34-0 victory over Cal in Week 4 was the second-largest shutout win ever by a MW team against an autonomous conference school. The only larger such win was BYU’s 59-0 win versus UCLA in 2008. It was one of just four shutouts by a Group of 5 program over an autonomous conference team in the last 10 seasons.

MW AGAINST THE A4, PART III
MW teams have played 16 autonomous conference opponents in 2025, including three of the four CFP semifinalists from last season (Nevada at Penn State, San José State at Texas, and Boise State at Notre Dame). … Since 2018, the MW has the best winning percentage over Autonomous 5 teams (30.0) among its peer conferences. MW teams have collected 45 wins over such teams in that span, also the most among its peer conferences (the American is second with 39).
