COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Seven Mountain West football players are among the 79 FBS student-athletes nominated for the 2025 Burlsworth Trophy, which honors the most outstanding football player who began his career as a walk-on.
Now in its 16th year, the award is named in honor of Brandon Burlsworth, a former University of Arkansas walk-on and All-American offensive lineman. Burlsworth’s life is also the subject of a major motion picture, “GREATER,” which was released in 2016.
Boise State’s Beon Phelps, Fresno State’s Camryn Bracha, Hawai‘i’s Kansei Matsuzawa, New Mexico’s Luke Drzewiecki, San Diego State’s Gabe Plascencia, Utah State’s King Miller and Wyoming’s Ben Florentine represent the MW on the list of nominees.
The Burlsworth Trophy Award Show to honor the three finalists and to announce the 2025 winner will be on Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. CST at Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas.
