COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State sophomore Carson Baker has been named the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Lukas Velik has been tabbed the MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week.

On the women’s side, Boise State freshman Maya Dutta earned the MW Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors.

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CARSON BAKER, BOISE STATE
Sophomore, Charleston, South Carolina/Mississippi

  • Posted a 3-2 overall record, competing at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles.
  • Clinched the team victory over UTSA with a straight-sets win (6-4, 6-4) at No. 2 singles.
  • Went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles with partner Jett Middleton, including a 6-2 upset over the No. 56-ranked duo from No. 41 Arizona State.

MEN’S TENNIS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
LUKAS VELIK, BOISE STATE
Prague, Czechia

  • Posted a 1-1 record at No. 3 singles, competing against No. 41 Arizona State and No. 49 Washington.
  • Earned a straight-sets victory (6-3, 7-5) over Washington to contribute to the team’s 4-2 win

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MAYA DUTTA, BOISE STATE
Dallas, Texas/University Prep

  • Went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend, competing at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles against Minnesota and St. Thomas.
  • Secured a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory over No. 52 Minnesota’s No. 2 singles player.
  • One of two Broncos to secure singles wins against both opponents on the weekend.
