COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV senior Toa Yokoyama has been named the Mountain West Women’s Golfer of the Week, while teammate Amber Chen has earned the MW Women’s Golf Freshman of the Week honor.

The weekly honor is the fourth of Yokoyama’s career and second this season. She also earned MW Golfer of the Month honors in September. Chen’s weekly honor is her first.

  • Tied for second at the Westbrook Invitational hosted by Wisconsin at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona.
  • Sandwiched career-low-tying rounds of 6-under-par 66 around an even-par 72 for a career-low 12-under 204, the fourth-lowest tournament score in program history.
  • Helped UNLV tie for second in the loaded field, which featured four top-50 teams.
  • Helped the Rebels turn in a program- and tournament-record 20-under 268 in the final round en route to a 30-under 834, the second-lowest tournament score in program history.
  • Turned in her fifth top-10 finish and third top-three outing of the season, while helping UNLV to its fifth top-two team finish of the season.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
AMBER CHEN, UNLV
Taipei, Taiwan

  • Tied for 11th at the Westbrook Invitational, helping UNLV to a runner-up team finish.
  • Opened with an even-par 72 before carding consecutive 3-under 69s for a 6-under 210.
  • Her individual finish was her season high and her overall and second- and third-round totals were season lows.
  • Posted 11 birdies for the tournament and turned in a bogey-free second round.
  • Helped UNLV fashion a tournament- and program-record 20-under 268 in the final round and turn in the second-best tournament score in program history at 30-under 834.
