COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen has been named one of the Manning Award’s Stars of the Week as well as the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week following his career day in the Broncos’ 56-24 win over San Diego State.
Madsen posted career-highs in completions (24), passing yards (307) and passing touchdowns (4) in the Boise State victory. On throws of 10 or more yards, he was 10-for-14 for 164 yards. In the first half, he was 20-of-25 for 261 yards. All four touchdown passes came in the first half, with three going to Latrell Caples. Madsen added 25 rushing yards to finish with a career-high 332 total yards of offense.
The redshirt sophomore ranks second in the MW and 21st in the nation in passing efficiency (153.9). He has 17 touchdowns and two interceptions, the second-best ratio among FBS quarterbacks with at least 10 touchdown passes.
Madsen is a member of the Davey O’Brien Quarterback Class of 2024, making him eligible for the award given to the nation’s top quarterback. The Broncos have won eight MW weekly awards this season, including six of a possible 11 offensive honors. Last season, Madsen was a two-time MW Freshman of the Week.
Boise State (7-1, 4-0 MW) hosts Nevada (3-7, 0-4 MW) on Nov. 9 for another sellout at Albertsons Stadium. The Broncos and Wolf Pack will kick off at 6 p.m. with the game airing nationally on FOX.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
