COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State’s Emery Herman has been tabbed the Mountain West Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. New Mexico libero Falanika Danielson was named the MW Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, while fellow libero Gianna Bender from San Diego State earned the MW Volleyball Freshman of the Week nod.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

EMERY HERMAN, COLORADO STATE

Graduate, Setter, Georgetown, Texas/Arizona

  • Led the Rams to a 1-1 week against in-state rival Colorado and ultimately bringing home the Golden Spike Trophy after taking down the Buffs, 3-1, in Boulder, Colorado.
  • Averaged 11 assists per set and 1.25 kills per set on the week.
  • Logged seven kills, 40 assists and two service aces for CSU against Colorado on Thursday when the Rams lost to their rival 3-1.
  • At Colorado, tallied a season-high 48 assists along with three kills on Friday night in the four-set victory over the Buffs.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

FALANIKA DANIELSON, NEW MEXICO

Graduate, Libero, Ewa Beach, Hawaii/Temple

  • Helped New Mexico to a 2-0 week over in-state rival New Mexico State.
  • Averaged 5.71 digs per set for the Lobos on the week.
  • On Tuesday, logged a season-high 26 digs, helping the Bos to a 3-1 win at home.
  • In the sweep over New Mexico State on Thursday, notched an additional 14 digs for the cherry and silver.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

GIANNA BENDER, SAN DIEGO STATE

Freshman, Libero, Hudsonville, Michigan/Hudsonville HS

  • Helped the Aztecs to a 2-0 week while on the road with wins over Gonzaga, 3-2, and Eastern Washington, 3-2.
  • Led San Diego State with a total of 37 digs and 3.7 digs per set on the week.
  • Logged a career-high 20 digs against Gonzaga while maintaining an .828 reception percentage on 29 attempts.
  • Against Eastern Washington, totaled 17 digs and was perfect when receiving on 15 attempts.
