Niko Roberts joined the Mountain West staff in the spring of 2021 as the Associate Commissioner of Men’s Basketball. In his role at the MW, Roberts oversees the men’s basketball operations, including scheduling, television, game operations, officiating and communicating with the NCAA selection committee.

Prior to the Mountain West, Roberts served as the NCAA Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Championships since January of 2017. He started his tenure with the NCAA in June of 2016 as an NCAA post-graduate intern before being promoted.

Throughout his five years on the NCAA men’s basketball staff, Roberts created and evolved several initiatives at the Final Four, including Final Four Street Teams, Final Four Course Curriculum and Mentoring Program with host institutions, Next Generation Sunday and the Final Four Talks.

In addition to oversight of forecasting and budgets for men’s basketball, he served as a site representative during preliminary rounds of the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship where he oversaw various aspects of the championship including media, lodging and game operations.

Roberts was also an integral staff member in the development and oversight of the NCAA College Basketball Academy, including camp operations, website development, nomination, voting portal and life skills for players and oversight of the Academy externship program. Roberts also represented men’s basketball on both ACT and CEAT.

A native of Huntington, New York, Roberts earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Kansas, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team. Roberts also received his Professional Masters of Sports Administration from Ohio University.
