FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State Baseball’s Mikey Boyd and Brady Hewitt have been named Midseason Freshmen All-Americans by Perfect Game USA, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Both Boyd and Hewitt have made an immediate impact for the Bulldogs as starting freshmen in the infield.
Boyd has served a majority of the season as the Bulldogs’ primary third baseman. In 25 games played, Boyd has collected 30 hits, including nine doubles, one triple and a pair of home runs. The freshman infielder has driven in 27 RBIs and scored 21 runs in 90 at-bats. He owns a .333 average with a .522 slugging percentage and .415 on-base percentage.
Hewitt has started in all 26 games as the Bulldogs’ shortstop and is batting .339 on the season, the second-best average on the squad behind senior Griffen Sotomayor. In 109 at-bats, Hewitt has 37 base knocks, including eight doubles, three triples and three home runs. The Simi Valley native has the second-best slugging percentage (.550) and on-base percentage (.433) on the club.
