LAS VEGAS – Fresno State advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship with a 74–57 victory over Nevada in first-round action Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Bulldogs took control early and never trailed, building a 21–10 lead after the first quarter before extending the margin to 40–22 at halftime. Nevada responded with its strongest stretch in the third quarter, scoring 25 points in the period, but Fresno State maintained the lead and entered the fourth with a 58–47 advantage.
Emilia Long led Fresno State with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Danae Powell added 12 points and Ava Marr finished with 11. Fresno State also received balanced scoring from its bench, with Avery Watkins, Morelia Chavez and Hedda Koehne each contributing eight points.
Nevada was paced by Skylar Durley, who scored 19 points, while Ahrray Young added 16. Kendra Hicks chipped in 11 points off the bench for the Wolf Pack.
Fresno State connected on 11 3-pointers and recorded 15 assists on the afternoon while forcing 20 Nevada turnovers. The Bulldogs led for nearly the entire contest, 39:43 of game time, and stretched their largest lead to 21 points in the second quarter.
With the win, Fresno State moves on to the quarterfinals of the 2026 CU1 MW Women’s Basketball Championship where it will face off against second-seeded UNLV.
