COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV junior guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn has been named the Old Trapper Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Wyoming guard Naz Meyer was tabbed the Old Trapper MW Freshman of the Week.
This is the third weekly honor of the season for Gibbs-Lawhorn and fourth for Meyer.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DRA GIBBS-LAWHORN, UNLV
Junior, Guard, Lafayette, Illinois/Illinois
- Led UNLV to a 1-1 record last week with a win over Nevada (88-83) in overtime and a loss to Grand Canyon (80-67).
- Averaged 36 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists per game, while connecting on 57.1 percent (24-of-42) of shots from the field and 56 percent (14-for-25) from long range.
- At GCU, recorded 30 points, four boards, three steals, two assists and a blocked shot.
- Scored a career-high 42 points in the win over in-state rival, Nevada. Also tallied four rebounds, three steals and two assists.
MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
NAZ MEYER, WYOMING
Guard, Los Angeles, California/New Hampton School
- Helped Wyoming to a 1-1 mark last week with a victory over Air Force (66-62) and a loss at Boise State (72-62).
- Averaged 13 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 teals and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) from the floor.
- Against the Broncos, recorded 12 points, seven boards, two steals and two assists.
- Registered 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds, tying his career high, against the Falcons.
