Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championship Central | Final Results
RENO, Nev. – The 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships concluded Saturday with Colorado State and New Mexico crowned the men’s and women’s champions, respectively, at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
The Lobos repeated their 2025 title, topping the women’s field with 165 points and out-distancing runner-up Nevada (84) by 81 points. Colorado State rounded out the top three with 73 points.
On the men’s side, Colorado State completed the three-peat with 138 points, 16 better than New Mexico (122). GCU took third in its first Mountain West Championships with 99 points.
The Lobo women put all challenges to rest with a combined 58 points earned in the mile and the 3,000- meters. In the latter, Pamela Kosgei (8:58.58) edged out teammate Marion Jepngetich by 0.23 of a second to win her second individual title of the meet and lead New Mexico’s taking of the top six places.
New Mexico went 1-2 in the ile, with Tilly Simpson taking gold in 4:39.72 followed by Li-Mari Dekker in 4:46.09. The Lobos were also boosted by titles from Rebecca Grieve in the 400 Meters and the 4×400 Meter Relay to close the meet.
The Colorado State men held off a charge from New Mexico with titles in the 60-meter hurdles from Owen Langdon and Ndayiragije Shukurani in High Jump.
New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel captured another individual title Saturday, taking the 3,000-meters by nearly 10 seconds, clocking a winning time of 7:48.35. His performance highlighted five event titles Saturday for the Lobo men, who wrapped the meet with a victory in the 4×400-meter relay to complete the men’s and women’s sweep.
In front of its home crowd, the Nevada women finished second with 84 points to post its highest team place since coming in third at its first Mountain West meet in 2013. The Wolf Pack’s move into second was highlighted by a big Saturday from Annalies Kalma, who took gold in the 200-meters and silvers in the 400-meters and with the 4×400-meter relay. Meekness Dogonyaro claimed silver to lead two Wolf Pack top-five finishes in high jump, while Malena Galvan, Kylee Parsons, and Halyn Senegal were part of the silver medal-winning relay.
The GCU men surged to a top-three team finish thanks in part to Justin Raines’ sweep of the 60 -meters and 200-meters.
Additional event titles were won on the women’s side by GCU’s Nina Thevenin (60 Meters), Boise State’s Kaiya Robertson (800 Meters), Colorado State’s Neya Jamison (60-Meter Hurdles) and Makayla Long (Shot Put), and San Diego State’s Xiamara Young (Triple Jump).
On the men’s side, New Mexico’s Brodie Young (400 Meters), Matthew Endrody (Mile) and Cameron Miller (Triple Jump) captured Saturday titles, along with Air Force’s Texas Tanner, who took the Shot Put for his second gold of the meet, and Utah State’s Logan Hammer (Pole Vault).
At the conclusion of the meet, Samuel was named the Outstanding Men’s Track Performer of the Meet while Tanner was named Outstanding Men’s Field Performer of the Meet. Kosgei was named the Outstanding Women’s Track Performer of the Meet while Young, who captured two jumps titles, was named Outstanding Women’s Field Performer of the Meet.
Colorado State’s Brian Bedard (Men’s) and New Mexico’s Darren Gauson (Women’s) took home their respective Coach of the Year awards.
The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships is next up for the still to-be-determined Mountain West qualifiers. The national meet is scheduled for March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
