AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST

  • The MW has two programs in the top 80 of the NET (San Diego State – 69; Colorado State– 79) and five in the top 120 (UNLV – 101; Boise State – 110; New Mexico – 118).
  • The Mountain West is one of 14 leagues (ACC, American, A10, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Ivy, MAAC, MAC, SEC, Summit, Sun Belt, WCC) that have two or more teams ranked in the top 80 of the NET rankings.
  • Mountain West teams have taken down six Autonomous 4 and Big East programs: UNLV 85 – DePaul 78, Grand Canyon 78 – SMU 60, UNLV 76 – Creighton 67, New Mexico 72 at Arizona 69, San Diego State 64 at Kansas State 53, New Mexico 63 – Houston 41.
  • The MW is one of eight leagues to hold opponents to 62.9 points per game or less this season (America East – 59.1, Ivy – 60.4, Patriot – 60.9, Southern – 61.0, Coastal – 61.5, A10 – 61.9, CUSA – 62.6, Mountain West – 62.9).
  • Boise State is ranked second in DI for 3-point percentage (38.8), behind only UCONN. The only other MW program to finish in the top two nationally in the category was Wyoming in 2018-19 (38.7 percent).
  • Colorado State is tied for eighth among DI in opponent points (55.3) and 16th nationally in opponent field goal percentage (36.2).
  • In the month of February, Colorado State is shooting 37.4 percent from three and 85.2 percent on free throws. No other DI team has such percentages in those splits so far this month.
  • The Mountain West will have five contests aired on national television this year through CBS Sports Network or FOX Sports:

  • The MW welcomes three new head coaches to the league: Ryan McCarthy (Fresno State), Winston Gandy (Grand Canyon) and Jonas Chatterton (San José State).
  • Four MW programs competed in postseason tournaments last season: Air Force (WNIT), San Diego State (NCAA), UNLV (WBIT), Wyoming (WBIT).
