COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Nevada has been predicted to win the 2026 Mountain West baseball title, as voted on by the league’s nine head coaches on Wednesday. The defending MW regular-season champion received five first-place votes and 60 points overall.

After collecting 55 points and three first-place votes, Fresno State has been selected to finish in second place. New MW member Grand Canyon is in third place with 47 points and a first-place vote, while New Mexico is in fourth place with 36 points. San José State tallied 33 points in fifth place, while UNLV is in sixth with 32 points. Rounding out the poll is San Diego State in seventh (30), Washington State in eighth (17) and Air Force in ninth (14).

Nevada returns 16 letterwinners and seven starters from a 2025 squad that claimed the MW regular-season title and earned the No. 1 seed in the MW championship. Among the Wolf Pack’s returners are 2025 Mountain West Freshman of the Year Sean Yamaguchi and 2025 All-Mountain West selections junior pitcher Alessandro Castro, senior infielder Jayce Dobie, senior catcher Jake Harvey and senior designated hitter Billy Ham.

The Wolf Pack leads the league with five preseason All-Mountain West selections. San José State landed three on the preseason team, while Air Force, Fresno State, New Mexico, UNLV and Washington State each have one preseason All-MW selection.

The 2026 Mountain West baseball season begins Friday, Feb. 13, with all nine teams in action.
