COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State’s Nala Williams was tabbed the Old Trapper Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Wyoming’s Jane Rumpf collected the Old Trapper MW Freshman of the Week nod.

This is the first weekly honor for both Williams and Rumpf this season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NALA WILLIAMS, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Guard, Long Beach, California/Cal State Dominguez Hills

  • Led the Aztecs to a 1-0 week with a victory over San José State (94-66).
  • Registered a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists in just over 25 minutes of action.
  • Became the first Aztec in the MW era to have at least 20 points, 10 assists and no turnovers in a game. Additionally, is the third player in the nation to have such numbers in a single game this season.
  • The California native is the second Aztec in the MW era to have at least 20 points and 10 assists in a game and first since 2013.
  • Also logged five rebounds and one steal for SDSU.
  • Shot 70 percent from the field, 60 percent from three and was perfect from the free-throw line.


WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JANE RUMPF, WYOMING
Forward, Denver, Colorado/Regis Jesuit

  • Helped the Cowgirls to a 2-0 week with wins over Utah State (63-51 and 74-56).
  • Averaged 12.5 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and one steal per game.
  • Against the Aggies in Laramie, tallied nine points, eight boards, four assists, two blocks and one steal.
  • In Logan, recorded 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.
  • Shot 52.9 percent from the floor, 38.5 beyond the arc and was perfect from the charity stripe across both contests.
