COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced on Tuesday athletes of the week for women’s swimming & diving. Wyoming’s Tara Joyce was named the MW Swimmer of the Week, the Cowgirls’ Alicia Gonzalez earned MW Diver of the Week honors and Air Force’s Abby Miller was tabbed as the MW Freshman of the Week.

MOUNTAIN WEST SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
TARA JOYCE, WYOMING
Junior, Cody, Wyoming/Cody HS
• Helped lead Wyoming to victories over Denver, 157-143, and Colorado Mesa, 176-124, in a double dual-meet.
• Won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.20, which is the ninth fastest time in the Mountain West this season.
• Also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.83, which is the 16th fastest time in the MW this year, and was the only swimmer of the dual to finish in under 50 seconds.
• Led off the 200-yard medley relay with a personal-best split of 25.84 en route to a victory with a relay time of 1:40.43
• Anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay, which finished with a time of 3:20.25.
• This is the second time she has earned Mountain West Swimmer of the Week honors this season.

MOUNTAIN WEST DIVER OF THE WEEK
ALICIA GONZALEZ, WYOMING
Senior, Canary Islands, Spain/Salesianos School
• Swept dives at the double dual-meet against Denver and Colorado Mesa.
• Posted a career-best 336.75, surpassing the NCAA Zone qualifying standard, to win the 3-meter dive, and was the only diver to score over 300 points in the 3-meter at the meet.
• Won the 1-meter dive with a score of 288.20, surpassing the NCAA Zone qualifying standard.
• This is the second time she has earned Mountain West Diver of the Week honors this season.

MOUNTAIN WEST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ABBY MILLER, AIR FORCE
Swimmer, Irvine, California/Portola HS
• Helped the Falcons to their 7th dual win of the season, sixth in a row, 208-54 over Seattle.
• Scored the most points of a freshman for Air Force with nine.
• Won the 1000-yard freestyle with an NCAA qualification time of 10:11.01, which is the 10th fastest time in the Mountain West this season.
• Her time in the 1000-yard freestyle also broke the Redhawk Center facility record and is the fifth fastest in Air Force history.
