COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced on Tuesday athletes of the week for women’s swimming & diving. Grand Canyon’s Paula Martinez was named the MW Swimmer of the Week, the Lopes’ Brooke Woeslaw earned MW Diver of the Week honors and San Diego State’s Sierra Tallman was tabbed as the MW Freshman of the Week.

MOUNTAIN WEST SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
PAULA MARTINEZ, GRAND CANYON
Senior, Madrid, Spain/Colegio San Diego Gredos Las Rozas
• Swam season-best times in three events in a dual meet against Arizona State.
• Won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:58.85, which ranks as the fourth fastest time in the Mountain West this season.
• Won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.34, which ranks as the fifth fastest time in the Mountain West this season.
• Helped lead the 200-yard medley relay team to a third-place finish with a time of 1:41.05, turning in a season-best leadoff split of 25.75 in the 50-yard backstroke.

MOUNTAIN WEST DIVER OF THE WEEK
BROOKE WOESLAW, GRAND CANYON
Sophomore, Goodyear, Arizona/Canyon View HS
• Finished second in the 1-meter dive at Arizona State with a career-best score of 302.30, surpassing the NCAA Zone qualifying standard.
• Posted the top 1-meter score in the MW this week.

MOUNTAIN WEST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
SIERRA TALLMAN, SAN DIEGO STATE
Swimmer, Santa Barbara, California/San Marcos HS
• Helped the Aztecs to a 4-0 record after they posted double dual-meet victories over Vanderbilt (146-107) and San Diego (153-132) on Jan. 2, followed by a sweep of Cal State East Bay (183-91) and Pepperdine (162-128) on Jan. 5, extending their dual winning streak to 84 consecutive dual meets, which dates back to January 8, 2018.
• Won three individual events and was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay that finished second with a time of 3:31.70 against East Bay and Pepperdine.
• Won the 200-yard butterfly against Vanderbilt and San Diego with a time of 2:04.06.
• Won the 200-yard freestyle against East Bay and Pepperdine with a collegiate-best time of 1:51.53.
• Won the 500-yard freestyle in her collegiate debut swimming the event with a lifetime-best time of 5:04.66 against East Bay and Pepperdine.
