WACO, Texas – University of Hawai’i placekicker Kansei Matsuzawa became the first player in program history to be named consensus All-American after earning first team honors by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
The Tokyo, Japan named has been named to the first team in the first three All-America teams that make up the NCAA’s annual consensus team – Walter Camp Foundation and Associated Press. Several weeks ago, the AFCA honored UH head coach Timmy Chang as the Region 5 Coach of the Year, a first for a Hawai’i coach.
Thus far, Matsuzawa has been named a first-team All-American by four organizations – AFCA, Associated Press, CBS Sports, and Walter Camp – and to the second team by several others.
