COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Old Trapper Mountain West Football Players of the Week have been announced for Week 13. UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea has been tabbed the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, while Boise State senior cornerback Jeremiah Earby is the MW Defensive Player of the Week. New Mexico senior kicker Luke Drzewiecki was named the MW Special Teams Player of the Week and Broncos running back Sire Gaines is the MW Freshman of the Week.
The MW awards are the fourth for Colandrea, third each for Drzewiecki and Gaines and second for Earby in their careers.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANTHONY COLANDREA, UNLV
Junior, Quarterback, St. Petersburg, Florida/Virginia
• Completed 21 of 26 passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns to lead UNLV past Hawai‘i, 38-10, in a crucial MW showdown.
• Fashioned a 200.6 passing efficiency and a completion percentage of 80.8.
• Tossed touchdown passes of 8,72 and 1 yards.
• Did not have a turnover in the contest.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JEREMIAH EARBY, BOISE STATE
Senior, Cornerback, East Palo Alto, California/California
• Totaled three tackles, two interceptions, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery in Boise State’s 49-21 win over Colorado State.
• His first interception came at the Boise State 10-yard line in the second quarter and ultimately led to a Bronco field goal.
• Recovered a Colorado State fumble near midfield later in the quarter, leading to a Boise State touchdown on its ensuing drive.
• His second interception was returned 37 yards in the fourth quarter, leading to another BSU touchdown.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LUKE DRZEWIECKI, NEW MEXICO
Senior, Kicker, Shelby Township, Michigan/Utica Eisenhower HS
• Scored eight points in New Mexico’s 20-3 win at Air Force, helping the Lobos to their first win in Colorado Springs since 2000.
• Hit a 27-yard field goal in the second quarter to make it a 17-0 game.
• Converted a 23-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
• Moved into second in New Mexico history in career field goals made (47).
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
SIRE GAINES, BOISE STATE
Redshirt Freshman, Running Back, Perris, California/Orange Vista HS
• Ran for a career-high 149 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in Boise State’s 49-21 win over Colorado State.
• Scored on runs of 3 and 8 yards, with half of his carries going for either first downs or touchdowns.
• Also had a 12-yard catch to finish with a career-best 161 all-purpose yards.
• Forced seven missed tackles and had 101 yards after contact.
