COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Utah State senior guard MJ Collins has been named the Old Trapper Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while New Mexico’s Tomislav Buljan was tabbed the Old Trapper MW Freshman of the Week.

MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MJ COLLINS, UTAH STATE

Senior, Guard, Clover, South Carolina/Vanderbilt

  • Led Utah State to a 2-0 record at the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic with wins over Tulane (96-75) and Davidson (94-60).
  • Averaged 30.5 points and 3.5 assists per game, while shooting 72.4 percent (21-of-29) from the field. Also connected on 61.1 percent (11-for-18) from long range.
  • Recorded 21 points and five assists in the victory over the Green Wave.
  • Against the Wildcats, netted a career-high and tournament-record 40 points behind a 14-of-19 (.737) effort from the floor, including eight triples.

MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

TOMISLAV BULJAN, NEW MEXICO

Freshman, Forward, Split, Croatia/KK Cedevita Junior

  • Helped New Mexico to a 1-1 record at the Hall of Fame Classic with a win over Mississippi State (80-78) and a loss to Nebraska (84-72).
  • Averaged a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds points per game, while connecting on 11-of-17 attempts (.647) from the floor.
  • In the victory over the Bulldogs, recorded 19 points and 21 boards. His 21 rebounds are tied for most in a game this season by a Division I player.
  • Posted 11 points and seven rebounds against Huskers.
