NCAA Cross Country Championship Results
COLUMBIA, Mo. – After back-to-back national runner-up finishes the last two years for New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel, the junior finally broke through to win the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Men’s Individual Championship in Columbia, Missouri, Saturday morning. He becomes the second Mountain West men’s runner to accomplish the feat, joining BYU’s Josh Rohatinsky (30:44:90), who won in 2006. Samuel’s 10k time of 28:33.9 at the national meet is also the best in Conference history, surpassing his marks of 28:40.7 in 2023 and 28:38.9 in 2024.

The now three-time Cross Country All-American led the New Mexico men to a second-place finish overall, the highest in program history and the highest by Mountain West men’s team all-time. Earning All-America status along with Samuel were sophomore Collins Kiprotich (28:45.7) in 8th place, junior Evans Kiplagat (28:50.7) in 13th and sophomore Vincent ChirChir (28:52.8) in 20th. Rounding it out for the national runners-up was freshman Mathew Kosgei (51st, 29.13.8), senior Iker Sanchez Lopez (61st, 29:20.1) and junior Lukas Kiprop (128th, 29:47.3).

On the men’s side, the Air Force men competed as a team Saturday, finishing 20th overall. Senior Jayden Nats led the way for the Falcons, finishing in 50th with a time of 29:13.0. Boise State juniors Meshack Kuyo and Alex Thompson qualified as individual competitors with Kuyo taking 27th overall (28:58.0) and Thompson finishing 151st (29:57.1).
For a second consecutive year, both New Mexico programs finished inside the top 10 with the Lobo women taking fourth Saturday, their third top-five finish in the last five seasons. The women have now finished in the top 10 nationally in each of their last 14 NCAA Championship appearances.
Sophomore Pamela Kosgei crossed the finish line first for the Lobos, taking 17th overall with a time of 19:02.8 to earn All-America honors for a second consecutive year. Freshmen Marion Jpengetich (19:27.6) and Judy Rono (19:31.5) finished 43rd and 49th, respectively, while junior Alice Sequin (19:43.0) took 71st and senior Nicole Jansen (19:43.6) finished 73rd for the Lobos’ top five.
The Boise State women made their first national meet appearance since 2020 and finished 22nd as a team. Senior Kaiya Robertson was the top Bronco on Saturday, taking 53rd with a time of 19:33.0.
Air Force senior India Jones (20:04.3) and junior Ella Johnson (20:05.1) competed as individuals, taking 121st and 125th, respectively.
