SACRAMENTO, Calif.—The Boise State men’s and women’s cross country teams recorded two top-five finishes at the NCAA West Regional, Friday.
The women placed third, recording 114 points as a unit. Boise State’s men’s team registered a fourth-place finish with 117 points.
Friday’s result marks the first time the women’s team placed in the top three in a regional since 2019. The last time the men’s team finished in the top four at a NCAA event was in 2018.
Boise State bested (18) Washington and (24) Washington State, who were both ranked heading into Friday’s competition. The team also finished ahead of two Big Ten, one Big 12, and two Mountain West schools.
Individually, Kaiya Robertson claimed eighth out of 263 total runners. Robertson, who finished ninth in the 2024 NCAA West Regional, moved up one spot, clocking a time of 19:44.4.
Two other Broncos from the women’s team notched top-25 finishes. Amit Koma (20:16.2) and Bianca Boehnke (20:16.6) combined for 43 points and ended the race in 21st and 22nd, respectively.
Consisting of 30 institutions, the men’s team placed fourth. They finished ahead of (29) Arizona and three other teams from power conferences.
Meshack Kuyo was Boise State’s top male finisher, collecting four points and posting a time of 29:25.6. Alex Thompson (29:33.0) and Patrick Kiprop (29:46.4), who finished 10th and 14th, totaled 24 points.
