COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Old Trapper Mountain West Football Players of the Week have been announced for Week 7. UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea has been tabbed the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, while Hawai‘i junior linebacker Jamih Otis was named MW Defensive Player of the Week. Rainbow Warrior senior placekicker Kansei Matsuzawa is the MW Special Teams Player of the Week and quarterback Micah Alejado earned Freshman of the Week honors.

The MW award is the seventh of Alejado, fourth for Matsuzawa, third for Colandrea and second for Otis.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANTHONY COLANDREA, UNLV
Junior, Quarterback, St. Petersburg, Florida/Virginia
• Accumulated 423 yards of total offense, completing 20 of 32 passes for 361 yards and a touchdown and rushing seven times for 62 yards and two scores in UNLV’s 51-48 win over Air Force.
• Threw for the most yards by a Rebel quarterback since 2018, including an 86-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that was the third-longest in program history.
• After the Falcons took a 48-44 lead with 1:13 left in the game, Colandrea quickly led UNLV down the field for the win, completing four passes for 56 yards before evading four would-be tacklers on the game-winning 19-yard touchdown run with 44 seconds remaining.
• Helped keep UNLV perfect on the season at 6-0 and lead the Rebels to bowl eligibility for a third straight season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAMIH OTIS, HAWAI‘I
Junior, Linebacker, Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman HS
• Had five tackles, a quarterback hurry and a pair of takeaways in Hawai‘i’s 44-26 win over Utah State.
• With 6:58 left in the fourth quarter, forced a fumble that was recovered by the Rainbow Warriors.
• Hawai‘i scored a touchdown on its ensuing possession.
• Killed another Utah State drive later in the fourth, intercepting a pass inside the red zone with 2:13 to play to seal the win.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KANSEI MATSUZAWA, HAWAI‘I
Senior, Placekicker, Tokyo, Japan/Hocking College
• Accounted for 14 points in Hawai‘i’s 44-26 win over Utah State, converting three field goals and five extra points.
• Got the scoring started with a 31-yard field goal in the first quarter, adding makes from 46 yards in the third quarter and 36 yards in the fourth quarter en route to his seventh straight game with multiple field goals to start the season.
• Improved to a perfect 19-for-19 on field goals this season, extending his MW record for consecutive makes to start a season.
• Ran his streak of consecutive made field goals to 20 dating back to last season, matching the program record and two shy of the MW mark.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MICAH ALEJADO, HAWAI‘I
Redshirt Freshman, Quarterback, Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman HS
• Threw for 413 yards and three touchdowns on 34 completions and added his first career rushing touchdown to lead Hawai‘i to a 44-26 win over Utah State.
• Became the first Hawai‘i quarterback with consecutive 400-yard passing games since 2018 and the second QB to do so in the FBS this season.
• Has thrown for 870 passing yards in his last two games, the most by any FBS quarterback in a two-game stretch this season.
• All three of his touchdown passes went to receiver Pofele Ashlock in the first half, including a 31-yard strike with 24 seconds left in the second quarter to stake the Rainbow Warriors to a 24-20 halftime lead.
• Ran 15 yards for a score with 11:55 left in the fourth quarter.
