COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A total of 157 student-athletes from Mountain West institutions earned 1A FAR Academic Excellence Awards for the 2024-25 academic year.

The 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award recognizes outstanding student-athletes for their significant accomplishments in the classroom while competing at the highest level of college sports. The award is given annually to student-athletes who graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or above and have participated in at least two years of NCAA intercollegiate athletics at a Football Bowl Subdivision institution.

New Mexico paced the Mountain West with 29 selections, followed by Wyoming with 20, Nevada with 16 and Boise State and San José State with 14 apiece.

The MW’s women’s track and field programs combined for a league-best 27 selections, with women’s soccer right behind with 26 and women’s swimming and diving third with 21.

New Mexico’s women’s track and field program produced a MW-leading nine selections, followed by Nevada women’s swimming and diving and Utah State men’s track and field with five each.

All student-athletes, regardless of sport, at FBS institutions are eligible for the award. A complete listing of this year’s winners can be found at this link.
