2025 Mountain West Cross Country Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Marion Jepngetich has been named the Mountain West Women’s Cross Country Athlete and Freshman of the Week, while fellow Lobo Collins Kiprotich was selected as the MW Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week and Air Force’s Josh Shriver earned MW Men’s Freshman of the Week honors.
WOMEN’S ATHLETE & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MARION JEPNGETICH, NEW MEXICO
Uasin Gishu County, Kenya/Kimwogo Mixed Day Secondary School
- In first collegiate cross country race, finished third in the 6k at the Cowboy Jamboree.
- Recorded a time of 20:15.8, helping the No. 3 Lobo women take third as a team behind No. 1 BYU and No. 13 Oklahoma State.
MEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
COLLINS KIPROTICH, NEW MEXICO
Eldoret, Kenya/M.O.I. Secondary School Chuiyat
- In season debut, finished third in the 8k at the Cowboy Jamboree with a time of 23:38.0.
- Led the No. 2 New Mexico men to a second-place team finish behind host and third-ranked Oklahoma State.
MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JOSH SHRIVER, AIR FORCE
Breckenridge, Colorado/Clear Creek HS
- Helped Air Force take the men’s team title at the Ted Castaneda Classic in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
- Recorded a time 25:49.19 to finish eighth in the 52-runner field.
- Marks the 15th-fastest 8K finish by a Falcon on Colorado soil.
