COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Old Trapper Mountain West Football Players of the Week have been announced for Week 2. UNLV junior quarterback Anthony Colandrea has been tabbed the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, while Fresno State senior linebacker Jadon Pearson was named MW Defensive Player of the Week. Bulldog senior placekicker Dylan Lynch earned MW Special Teams Player of the Week honors and Boise State running back Sire Gaines is the MW Freshman of the Week.
The MW awards are the second each for Colandrea, Lynch and Gaines and the first for Pearson.
OLD TRAPPER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANTHONY COLANDREA, UNLV
Junior, Quarterback, St. Petersburg, Florida/Virginia
• Completed 15-of-21 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns to pace UNLV to a 30-23 win over UCLA.
• Completed 71 percent of his passes and turned in a passing efficiency of 199.8.
• Threw 21-yard touchdown passes in both the first and second quarters before capping a 75-yard scoring drive with a 17-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to make it 30-13.
• Ran for 13 of his 59 yards on the Rebels’ final drive to pick up a first down and seal the win.
• Was named one of the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8 for Week 2.
OLD TRAPPER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JADON PEARSON, FRESNO STATE
Senior, Linebacker, Gilbert, Arizona/Utah State
• Totaled a career-high 16 tackles in Fresno State’s 36-27 win at Oregon State.
• Recorded nine solo stops.
• Had a pass-breakup.
• Led a Bulldog defense that helped defeat Oregon State for the first time since 2003 and secure their first win in Corvallis since 1991.
OLD TRAPPER SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DYLAN LYNCH, FRESNO STATE
Senior, Placekicker, Bakersfield, California/Liberty HS
• Contributed 12 points in Fresno State’s 36-27 win at Oregon State.
• Went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts and connected on three extra points.
• Hit a 43-yard field goal with 29 seconds remaining in the game to put the Bulldogs back on top to stay.
• Converted field goals from 34 and 28 yards earlier in the fourth quarter.
OLD TRAPPER FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
SIRE GAINES, BOISE STATE
Redshirt Freshman, Running Back, Perris, California/Orange Vista HS
• Had 14 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown in Boise State’s 51-14 win over Eastern Washington.
• Averaged 7.0 yards per carry and totaled 84 yards after contact, forcing six missed tackles.
• Gained 46 yards on the game’s first play.
• Scored on an 8-yard run in the first quarter.
• Added an 11-yard reception for 109 all-purpose yards in the contest.
