LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea is a member of the Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 for Week 2 of college football, the award’s organizers announced Monday.
Colandrea (St. Petersburg, FL) completed 15 of his 21 pass attempts for 203 yards and a career-high tying three touchdowns to help undefeated UNLV down UCLA 30-23 on Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium. The junior signal-caller, who transferred in from Virginia, also ran for 59 net yards, including 40 during his team’s final scoring drive of the night in the fourth quarter.
The performance earned him his second consecutive Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week award as well as the right to join seven other quarterbacks on the Great 8 list from the O’Brien Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s best collegiate signal-caller.
Up next, UNLV (3-0) enjoys its first of three bye weeks before heading to a first-ever meeting with Miami (OH) on September 20. The Rebels next play at home on October 11 for a Homecoming meeting with Air Force at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are available by visiting unlvtickets.com.
