COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nine Mountain West schools are among the top 150 nationally in the final 2024-25 Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, with New Mexico finishing first among all non-autonomous FBS institutions. The league’s average score is sixth overall among the 31 NCAA Division I conferences and the fifth-best in the FBS.

New Mexico finished 49th nationally with 495.5 points, followed by Boise State in a tie for 91st with 214.5 points and Colorado State in 93rd with 204 points. Utah State (No. 104, 180 points), Air Force (No. 105, 174.5 points), Wyoming (No. 119, 147 points), UNLV (No. 121, 146 points), Fresno State (No. 138, 119.5) and San José State (No. 144, 113.5 points) all finished inside the top 150.

The Conference’s nine top-150 schools are the fifth-most in all of Division I.

Mountain West schools combined for an average score of 124.1 to rank behind only the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12 and Ivy League, in that order, among DI leagues.

In a new scoring format for this year, an additional countable sport has been added on the Division I side, bringing the total number of countable sports to five (5). On the women’s side, soccer joins basketball and volleyball, while the men’s side will continue to be baseball and basketball. Overall, 19 total sports are counted for the final standings in June, including the five countable sports, and the next highest 14 (max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender.
