COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico senior Josh McAlister has been named the Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week, while San Diego State senior Omar Serrano has been selected the MW Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Nevada rookie Sean Yamaguchi has been selected as the MW Baseball Freshman of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

JOSH McALISTER, NEW MEXICO

Senior, Infielder, Homewood, Illinois/Ohio State

  • Helped New Mexico to a 3-1 record last week with a series win over UNLV and a midweek victory over New Mexico State.
  • Batted .400 in four starts in the infield with six hits, including three home runs, eight RBIs and four runs scored.
  • Posted a 1.200 slugging percentage.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

OMAR SERRANO, SAN DIEGO STATE

Senior, Downey, California/Downey HS

  • Tossed a complete-game shutout, giving San Diego State a 2-0 win on Saturday.
  • Struck out six batters in the start.
