BOISE, Idaho — Selected by College Sports Communicators, Tyson Degenhart has been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-America second team, it was announced on Tuesday.

Capping an impressive collegiate career, highlighted by numerous accolades and awards, Degenhart earns Academic All-America honors for the second consecutive year. He was named to the first team following the 2023-24 season.

Degenhart and fellow Washington native, Matt Nelson (2008), are the only players in program history to be named to a CSC All-America team. He is the first Bronco to be selected multiple times.

A finance major with a 3.92 cumulative GPA, Degenhart is the only Mountain West player to garner the distinction this year. Joining him on the second team is Jaden Akins (Michigan State), Tytan Anderson (Northern Iowa), Zuby Ejiofor (St. John’s), Sion James (Duke), Gibson Jimerson (Saint Louis), Michael Rataj (Oregon State) and Blaise Threatt (Weber State).

One-of-two players in Mountain West Conference history to shoot 50 percent or higher in all four seasons (min. 200 attempts each year), Degenhart concludes his time at Boise State with averages of 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 51.8 percent from the field.

Scoring 2,037 career points, Degenhart is Boise State’s all-time scoring leader. He posted two, 500-point seasons and set the program’s single-season points record in his senior campaign, totaling 676.

Surpassing 2,000 points and 700 rebounds last season, Degenhart became just the third player in conference history to eclipse those numbers. He’s just the 13th D-I player in the last five years to hit those marks.

A three-time, first-team All-Mountain West selection, Degenhart shot 52.6 percent and averaged 18.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in 2024-25. He was 1-of-9 players in Division I men’s basketball to post those numbers.

Scoring in double figures in 36 of the team’s 37 games, Degenhart tied Chaz Lanier (Tennessee) for the most double-digit scoring performances. Only six D-I players scored 10+ points at least 35 times.

Degenhart finished last season with the Mountain West’s third-highest scoring average (18.3). He notched 15, 20-point games and was 1-of-6 with at least 675 points and 225 rebounds.
