COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four Mountain West schools are among the top 100 nationally in the winter update of the 2024-25 Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, while the league’s average score is 12th overall among the 31 NCAA Division I conferences and the fifth-best in the FBS.

New Mexico currently ranks 57th nationally with 278.5 points, followed by Wyoming with 142 points in 85th place. Colorado State is 87th with 135.5 points and Utah State is 91st with 128.5.

The Conference’s four top-100 schools are the seventh-most in all of Division I and fifth-most in the FBS.

Mountain West schools have combined for an average score of 140.4 to rank behind only the SEC, Big Ten, ACC and Big 12, in that order, among FBS leagues.

In a new scoring format for this year, an additional countable sport has been added on the Division I side, bringing the total number of countable sports to five (5). On the women’s side, soccer joins basketball and volleyball, while the men’s side will continue to be baseball and basketball. Overall, 19 total sports are counted for the final standings in June, including the five countable sports, and the next highest 14 (max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender.
