SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State had four gymnasts shine as individuals during the second round of NCAA Regionals held here inside the Huntsman Center Thursday night.

Graduate Brianna Brooks competed on bars and beam, while junior Avery Bibbey competed on bars, sophomore Sydney Jelen competed on beam, and freshman Lundyn VanderToolen competed on bars.

Once again, Brooks performed well on the biggest stage with a season-high-tying 9.900 on bars and a 9.875 on beam. Her bars score was tied for second during the session and her beam score tied for seventh. For her career, Brooks scored at least 9.900 at NCAA Regionals for the fourth time, which is tied for the third-best bars score at an NCAA Regional meet in school history.

Jelen tied for 10th on beam with 9.850, which is tied for her third-highest score on the event this year.

Bibbey and VanderToolen both competed on bars and notched scores of 9.825 and 9.800, respectively.

“Having three returners compete in this competition was amazing. I hope they use this experience to fuel their teammates for next year.

“Thank you, Brianna. What you have accomplished as an NCAA student-athlete has been incredible to witness and be a part of. The legacy you have left will always be remembered. Here’s to the next step in your journey of life!”
